The collection of industry, craft and handcraft
The industry, craft and handcraft collection was formed after 2006, when individual specific items were excluded from previous collections. It includes 393 units – from the products of local industry, everyday objects of Slovenian and other manufacturers, and items in the field of craft and handicrafts.
The collection includes products and semi-finished products of the Kolektor concern, the Hidria corporation, and the Eta Cerkno company, such as commutators, fans, rotor packets, glowplugs, castings, cooking hobs, radiators, plates for keeping feet warm, soldering apparatus, x-ray and tube heaters, and regulating elements. The other manufacturers’ objects we keep are radio and TV receivers, gramophones, magnetophones, typewriters and scales.
Crafts and handicrafts are important for understanding the innovativeness of our ancestors and predecessors who have lived in this geographically complex region and made their lives easier with their creative improvements and innovations. That’s why we’re keeping the items from a blacksmith’s workshop, woodworking tools such as carpenter planes, angle irons, a drawing compass, hole perforators, cutters, chisels, drills, saws and files. We also keep objects from a shoemaker’s and tailor’s workshop in Idrija, and from a nail workshop in Vojsko.
