We are proud and happy to inform you that the Idrija Municipal Museum is among the recipients of the donation that the Council of Europe and the European Commission grant at the call for European Heritage Days Stories. We applied to their call with the story of Franja Partisan Hospital \u2013 A Hidden Gem of Europe<\/strong> and were among the recipients of the 10,000 \u20ac donation. As a lot of effort went into the preparation of the project, we are extremely happy to be awarded this prize. The author of the awarded story is museum councillor Milojka Magajne, Head of the Cerkno Museum. The awarded project will begin on the 15 July and end of March 2021.<\/p>\n

We connected the applied story with the preparation of the exhibition on the Franja Partisan Hospital, with which we wish to travel at home and abroad. A part of this exhibition will also be an interactive visualisation and we will cover its costs with the received donation. It will include a selection of stories, photographs, and audio- and video recordings on the activities of the hospital, available in 7 languages. The exhibition will go on its tour starting in spring 2021 in Krapina, Croatia. This will be the next step in our long-term collaboration with the Krapina Neanderthal Museum, which is also the holder of the European Heritage Label.<\/p>\n

Franja Partisan hospital – the European Heritage Label holder<\/span><\/h3>\n

The participation in the call is connected to the programme of activities we had planned for the Franja Partisan Hospital as the holder of the European Heritage Label. Every four years, the Commission verifies that the holders are fulfilling the conditions to keep the Label, whereby it is important that they are presenting their European dimension to the public. 2020 is the verification year. In February, we wrote a report for the 2016\u20132020 period and prepared the programme for the 2020\u20132023 period. The planned activities strive to widen the promotion of Franja and raise awareness of its values in the European space, addressing various target groups, especially the youth.<\/p>\n

During European Heritage Days (26 September to 10 October 2020), we are also planning an open day with a rich programme of activities to happen on 3 october.<\/p>\n

More on the Call for European Heritage Days Stories<\/strong><\/p>\n

European Heritage Days are a joint action of numerous European states supported by the Council of Europe and the European Commission. Each year, the organisers chose various topics with which they wish to present the cultural heritage of Europe to the home public, to European citizens, and the world. In 2018, the year of European cultural heritage, European Heritage Days first launched a Call for Stories. The purpose of this initiative is to recognize and encourage the European dimension of efforts in the field of cultural heritage, pursued by heritage communities in Europe.<\/p>\n
