Digitalised lace catalogues

In cooperation with the Digitalizacija d.o.o. company, the Idrija Municipal Museum has digitalised 6 sales catalogues of lace items from the early 20th century. The catalogues are primarily significant for researching the development of Idrija lace. Due to their age and frequent use, the catalogues are in poor condition, which is why their digitalisation will allow us to avoid browsing, as catalogue users will be able to »browse« through them with the help of computers. The original copies have been stored in a safe place.

Most of the lace catalogues kept by the Museum were owned by the Franc Lapajne company, which was established in 1875 and held the leading position in lace trading in Idrija. The company compiled several sales catalogues featuring a large variety of lace items. These were sold under the name of Idrija lace in the markets of Northern and Western Europe as well as America.

An example of a digitalised lace catalogue is displayed on the Museum's website. To view the catalogues at a higher resolution or for any other information, please contact our curator, Mirjam Gnezda Bogataj (tel.: 05 37 26 620) during the Museum's opening hours.
